Sophia Alexandra is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in the Bay Area. Primarily working with paint and clay, she makes artwork about the inexhaustible range of emotion. In sculpture and paintings, sensory experience is at the forefront of her work. In her paintings, she uses color intuitively to create abstract pictures resembling a landscape. The landscape is a framework she uses to express vastness and the large scale serves to envelop the viewer. In sculptural ceramics she carves exaggerated features on distressed faces to communicate emotional intensity.

The photographs she takes are most often of friends and family, though strangers appear now and then. Regardless of her relationship with the subject, all of her photographs are love notes to the person being photographed.
